Somewhere I missed it... what did you do with the hood. Didn't the hood it came with have integral fenders and a reverse flip to open Ohhh ya I remember that hood. It hit every rock just like the old tire carrier. Link to comment
Weebz
Hmmmm….doesnt Jerry hit every rock regardless? Lol. Great progress gents. Looking forward to seeing the finished package. 1 1 Link to comment

Somewhere I missed it... what did you do with the hood. Didn't the hood it came with have integral fenders and a reverse flip to open I have the OG fiberglass hood and fenders in the garage. It's not a reverse flip, it opens the normal way, but the top half of the fenders are molded into the hood, and the lower half of the fenders is separate, and they bolt on the side. There is a set of hood pins in front, and a stock rubber hood latch to hold the fender halves together. It's cool, but the fenders are wide for my taste, and I had to winch a lot to keep from getting them ruined in the rocks. If someone is interested in it, let me know. Link to comment
Jdofmemi
Here is a picture of the hood opened, so you can see the fender set up. 1 Link to comment

Jdofmemi
Another weekend working on Vengeance. Is this progress??? Wait, isn't this supposed the other way? Front out ready to weld the brackets so we can put it in and line up the track bar mount. Quality EVO work More top notch EVO work. Why weld where you can't see. Maybe no one will notice and it might not break until it's out of warranty The small, poorly installed cross member that they used to mount the PSC ram. Not up to the task, and it broke on the Rubicon Trail last year. Drilling out the broken cross member with my mag drill so we can install a new one. More poor workmanship from EVO Pulled the front so we could get to the things that need work. The more we look, the more we see Pretty sure Dennis is second guessing the offer to work on it here 1 1 Link to comment
Jdofmemi
Getting ready to weld Damon welding. Looking good Krashfab bumper and new cross member. We used some of the extra DOM from the cage, and had to use a chain come along to pull the frame together after it had been spread out due to the broken cross member. Once we pulled it in, a ratchet strap was enough to hold it. This Krashfab bumper is so much beefier than the prior one, plus an even better approach angle, and it comes with weld in sleeves for the frame, unlike most others that just bolt on. After the great many hard recoveries I have been involved in, the holes were stretched and the old bumper was loose and dented. The other advantage is the larger frame winch will fit, as the 8000# Vengeance came with wasn't in great shape after the last trip getting out of Fordyce. 1 1 Link to comment
Jdofmemi
More quality welds! The only 9ne that doesn't look perfect is the one where he is covering my plug weld. Good to see this come together. 1 1 Link to comment
Jdofmemi
Just now, Weebz said: That bumper is slick!!! Thanks! It's built well, a tight fit, and should hold up to anything and everything I hit! Plus, it has even more clearance than the prior VKS and it was damn good. Link to comment
Savage90
I originally got the VKS bumper because I like the way it looked on your Jeep . Vengeance is looking good though! man I know how you feel about all these surprises. Not only have I owned an EVO build Jeep before but I was also astonished at what quality was allowed to drive out of that shop… additionally to all the terrible things I have uncovered from the previous owner with Wanda. basically if you want to done right, you have to do it yourself!! 1 Link to comment

I don't dislike the VKS bumper, but due to a new winch I had to change. The EVO build, well, I wouldn't have them assemble a little red wagon. Nearly everything is wrong in one way or another. I am just glad I realized the shortcomings before I bought a double throwdown for the White Jeep. They do a lot of things reasonably well, but if you really push the limits, you will find them sooner with EVO. I go harder than most at everything I do, and have broken nearly everything you can imagine but have always been able to get home. I spent a bit more on GenRight parts, but have seen the difference first hand and feel it's been money well spent. I know a lot of people who are happy with EVO, and also a lot of people who wouldn't use anything of theirs. At the end of the day, the only one who needs to be happy with your build is you. 2 2 Link to comment

Jdofmemi
It seems the more we dig, the more we find. This last weekend was spent on the front end. We pulled the grille, core support, radiator, etc, and got in so we could get to the broken front frame cross member. How it started Good time to replace my broken headlight bucket Spraying it down for a bath. Farther apart. Pretty sure Dennis is questioning his decision to help right about this time Here is some SEMA quality EVO work. Nice pretty welds, on the side the camera can see. On the side you can't, The loose flopping brake line is special too. It's a wonder I didn't end up with a hole rubbed in it. I guess it takes too long to put proper clamps on Some more top notch EVO work. This undersized cross member is what they attached the steering ram to. It broke on the Rubicon Trail last year. I used a pry bar as a field fix. It is a wonderful the tabs didn't break off. If you look close, it is cracked at the end of the tab, in addition to where it broke due to the poor fit up where it spliced into the factory one they cut out. Drilling out the frame to 2" to install a new 2" DOM replacement. The new DOM inserted, and the Krashfab bumper is in place, holding the frame in alignment. Once the cross member is welded, the bumper can come back off and the sleeves can get welded in. This bumper comes with a template to cut to, and sleeves to weld in, so it's not just bolts squeezing the frame. When you have to pull as hard against it as I've had to, that makes a difference. That, plus it leaves room for the new ,larger Warn 10K winch, since my original 8K was barely pulling after the recovery mission out of Fordyce. 1 Link to comment
AJK
My brain cant comprehend how the steering stabilizers stayed on with them tiny welds. Those welds must be from God himself. Jesus Christ on a Motorbike. 1 Link to comment

Jdofmemi
Well, the more we find, the more we find Moving the steering box back to the factory location, to work as intended with the GenRight kit leads us to find the EVO stretched steering shaft. Hmm, most people know when building something with U joints, they should be kept in phase with each other I say this is the likely culprit for the steering wheel that couldn't be centered. It was off by about the same amount that the shaft is off. 1 Link to comment
Jdofmemi
On the rear end, we drilled the housing on each side to add another bolt to the rear truss. This should be enough to keep it from breaking off again like it did in Colorado last year. This is why I bought the magnetic drill press, and it worked out great! Dennis created this reverse center punch to mark the hole to drill in the piece of plate that will get welded to the truss Plates cut, and ready to be welded on Building it this way, it is removable, and does not interfere with being able to remove the cover for service. AJK
It's just embarrassing to see some of the work done on this rig knowing it went to SEMA like that. The trust is looking good man. 1 Link to comment
