Been rocking my Panasonic 58" plasma TV for about ten years.  I like the picture quality and it has the collateral benefit of heating up my house nicely.  😄  I moved to a new place in June and the old TV just won't cut it in my new living room.  Since they stopped making plasma TVs years ago, I bit the bullet on an LG OLED.  Moving on up to an 83".  Should be arriving this week.  The LG home theater systems don't get the greatest reviews, so after some research I went with a Samsung system.  So many options on all of this stuff.  I feel like I got some good discounts through Greentoe, but I'm sure all the stuff will be even cheaper on black Friday sales soon enough.

Nice!

It's amazing how far the progress has came in TVs

Yeah crazy. I remember the larger LED tvs were like $10k. Now they’re a 10th of that for some. Before long the glass screen TVs will be obsolete and we’ll be watching those short throw projectors.

Nice!  I feel the same way.  I had a Samsung plasm that I got back in 2008. I used it everyday when we lived in Cali. Still had a great picture. It's in the storage unit in Torrance right now. When we bought our house here in Texas I went to Best buy to the TV section and found a TV salesman.  Said if you had no budget what TV would you buy right now.  He said this Sony one right here. I said do you have that in a 65"? He said yes.  I said take it to the front.  10 minutes and out the door. Ha.  It's a great TV

haha. That guy must have been salivating when you said “no budget.”  😂

I still have the plasma, it’s just now in the bedroom. Even after 10+ years, it still has a great picture.  Just too small for current needs. And it doubles as a space heater.

As soon as I get caught up on Jeep stuff (never?) I want to get a new TV. We have a 65" LG 4K that's about 4 years old. It's garbage. Any scene that's a night, you can't see much. Plus it's annoying that they don't have a Max (HBO) app. So I have to use my Playstation 4 to watch Max. Doubt I'll ever buy an LG TV again.

Hopefully not an LG OLED. I just dropped a bunch of dough on one!

We recently just splurged on two media rooms and TV’s in our gust bedrooms in our place in Henderson…after seeing the final bill, I think I would have rather bought a cabin on the river in WY…

Yeah, the stuff ain’t cheap. At least, quality stuff.

We actually bought all the TV’s on Black Friday a year ago…then waited 6 months for the rest of the components to arrive. I would need a hand truck to move a couple of the subwoofers…

Still waiting for delivery of my TV. Starting to think it maybe “fell off a truck.”

Should be ok as long as it's not USPS. I have another hobby (collecting casino chips) that involves a lot of shipping back and forth. USPS has gotten worse the last few years. Lots of packages get stolen by employees.

It’s some private carrier. I surmise the problem is that I don’t live in a highly populated area. The shipper doesn’t want to send a truck all the way out to me with nothing but my tv sitting in the back. So they are holding it, waiting for more shit to put in the truck to make it worth their while. The problem is, that could take a while.

Waiting for a TV is probably harder than waiting for Jeep parts.

Yeah, once I bit the bullet on a new one, I wanted it NOW! 😂

This is when I miss the brick and mortar TV stores where you could buy one and have it delivered the next day.

I remember talking to the sales person at Circuit City when I bought my plasma TV. I asked him how long they last. He said around 10 years or so. I was joking with him, asked if they have one that will only last 5 years and then just die completely so my wife will be forced to buy a new one.

I remember Circuit City. And before them, buying stuff from the local stereo/TV place. All long gone now.

I could have got it immediately from Best Buy, but I found it for $500 less at an online place that also didn’t charge sales tax. So I saved $800, at the cost of delayed gratification.

So finally got the TV. Took only three weeks. 🙄 Spent most of the day getting it mounted.  I have an unusually tall mantle, so I needed a solution for that. Enter Mantel Mount.  It allows you to drop the tv down about 24 inches. Even in the low position it’s still higher than I’d like, but manageable. Still have to get it all wired up tomorrow, but at least it’s on the wall now.

Looks good!

My last house was an older 80's build. The only spot for a flat screen was above the fireplace.

Yeah it’s not a great spot for a tv. Our house has a den/media room that would be better, but we’re using it as a bedroom.  So over the fireplace was the only other place for it.
