Practically speaking, I agree with Byron.   Get a replacement 3.6 and swap it out in a weekend and be done.  Economical and no follow to gremlin headaches.

Like Jeff said.

I was under $2k for my swap including the engine and all the supplies for the swap.

That's the way I'm leaning.  Jerry, where'd you find an engine?

Also, thinking out loud, if we can get a pit crew together, I would be willing to pull mine and send it your way.

Let me know if you are interested.

It was low miles when I got it, and it made a few trips. Runs great, no leaks

Really generous Jerry.  Let me see what I can find up this way.

I got the yj’s engine from here.  They ship fast.  I would pull my jk’s engine but I can’t make the jump yet till suspension is in it.

That's more than double what I paid, and they ship also.

Thanks guys.  Our dealership has used LKQ frequently so that's definitely an option.  Jerry, I am going to check out Jeep Parts Depot as well.  We have an appointment tomorrow to get the hot water in our house  figured out.  So I can really dig in to it in the next week.

The shop that did the work to it over the last couple of months did offer to credit me $1000 towards an engine replacement.  This is about half of what I spent for the initial main seal and oil filter housing the first two times it was there.  When it was there last week they did a PCV valve and valve cover gaskets with no charge.  I'm about 50/50 this might be the way I go.

The other way I might go is to buy this Ram 2500 gas that we took in on trade a few weeks ago and to not rush with the Jeep  It seems like a good deal.  I'm worried about it not being a diesel...
