We had a rare east coast satellite launch a few years back from Vandenburg Base in Va (been awhile, pretty sure it was from there) and we got to see similar to this. Gotta be honest, scared the shit outta me for a hot second because we never see these over here. When it dropped the booster stage & went into the second we all thought ICBM. Lit up the local radio station call ins and there was mild panic before someone got on & said what it was. That was flip phone days so my pics sucked. 1 1 Link to comment

I do see how someone could panic a bit if they weren't expecting to see something like that. Most of us (our 15 yo couldn't be bothered, go figure) sat outside and made smores. Definitely going to try to watch the launches in the future if the timing is right. 2 Link to comment
