Well, we decided on another pup. Never replacing my best buddy Riley, but gonna give it a go with another Staffordshire Terrier. She'll be one of the cuties from this litter.

Already have a name too - Roo

I might be getting one of those next. I love boxers, but they have way too many health problems and my current boy probably isn't going to live long.

Funny story: Around 30 years ago I was working as an EMT. We got sent to a dog show for the day. My partner had a pit bull. He walks up to a guy and says 'Nice pit!!'. The guy just looks at him disgusted and says, "IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT GIVE THESE DOGS A BAD NAME!" and he walks off.

My partner and I are looking at each other like WTF! These dog show people are a strange bunch!

Later we're chatting with someone that has bulldogs. Guy is down to earth, so my partner tells him the story. He laughed and said, THEY'RE STAFFORSHIRE TERRIERS, NOT PIT BULLS. He got mad because you called his dog a pit bull. Those are fighting dogs and not recognized by the AKC. Ok then...

Later that day we were called to an area. Their Doberman had cut his face and bleeding pretty good. Sir, we work on people, not dogs. He was pretty mad. I gave the guy some bandaging material to shut him up. Said he was showing later and needed to help covering up the wound. Again sir, people only. We don't have makeup or stitching material for fuck sake. If he bites you, we can help with that. We're not working on your dog (unless he has insurance lol).

Everything you read about the Stafford breed is accurate. I'll miss my buddy Riley forever. My favorite description of them is 100# of dog in a 50# package. It's true.

They're awesome! What are their names?

This little guy is Rascal, and he’s around 7 months old.  Yes, he can definitely be a little Rascal too. We got him so that our older pup would have a little brother to play with and it’s worked out great.  Best decision getting a second one.

Nice looking boxers!

Mine is ready for Halloween.

He decided that the lounge chairs are outdoor dog beds.

We may have finally a breakthrough with his health. After two vets and a specialist, they think he has 'boxer Colitis'. He's on some new medication and is eating much better and has more energy. He's acting like a puppy again. We're hoping to put some weight on him.

Have you tried a raw diet? Our Pit has constant issues no matter what food we tried. I found a local place that makes it and it turned her around. All the dogs are on it and they all look great and have tons of energy. It's a little expensive to do it, and messy, but it really does the trick.

What's in the raw food?  I read the ingredients of supermarket pet food and its' unreal.  The dog equivalent of a twinkie, what with all the unrecognizable ingredients.

We get 4 different varieties. Beef chicken turkey & lamb. Basically scraps along with organs, & small amounts of carrots, kale, eggs along with the shell, apples, squash, & assorted veggies. It’s probably 90% meat . I add full fat yogurt, blueberries & sardines in water as treats.

it’s like the old Chuck wagon commercials when it’s time to eat. Lots of running and jumping

Our older Boston Terrier Buster also has a sensitive stomach and is a bit of a food snob.  We’ve been through so many dog foods trying to find one that agrees with him.  He does by far the best with Instinct raw frozen beef patties, and thats the main part of his diet now.

We also feed them Orijen small breed kibble, which has been a game changer.

We haven't tried that yet. Maybe after we're done with the medication.

We did have him on some vegetarian food recommended by one of the vets. It didn't help and was super expensive.

I don’t know. Are dogs vegetarians? Seems to me you should be feeding them cats, rodents, reptiles, and maybe smaller dogs.

The vegetarian thing doesn't make sense. Not criticizing you, just don't get where that's coming from.  I've heard that from a couple other people too. I understand some as a supplement, but unless the veggies are pulverized, cooked or pureed, their short digestive systems can't break the plant fibers down. Just look at how the grass they eat comes out. 🤢

They're basically wolves for crying out loud. For them, raw meat and raw meaty bones are all they need. Their systems are really acidic and will break those bones down completely. I also give mine raw eggs shells and all. I do crunch the shells up into small pieces but they love those too.

As a treat they get chicken feet, ducks feet, and chicken necks. All either raw or freeze dried. They can have uncooked poultry bones as they don't splinter and create all those knife edged pieces like they do when cooked.

I agree with this and so do our dogs.  Everything we feed our dogs is heavily/mostly made up of some sort of fowl, fish, beef part(s) as the top five first ingredients.  Dogs had constant issues with foods containing grains and poultry mostly.
